Calendar Outsole
“Calendar” soles are made by running a continuous sheet of uncured rubber through a dual-roller press. The top roller is etched with a tread pattern while the bottom roller is smooth. Once pressed, the soles are hand cut on a template with a hot knife. The uncured soles are then applied to the upper boot and vulcanized together to form a seamless permanent chemical bond. The calendar soles on all DRYSHOD models are clad over with a rigid puncture-resistant tuck board with steel shank and latex-sponge heel wedge. Calendar soles can be cut in a variety of shapes and contours to suit the use of the model. The inherent low center of gravity on calendar soles provides excellent stability on uneven terrain.
Cold-Molded Solid Rubber Outsole
Solid rubber that is compression molded in an unvulcanized state. After pressing, the sole is then applied to the upper and vulcanized together to form a seamless permanent chemical bond. The cold-molding process provides more control over the pressing process which results in greater definition of the tread design.
Combo – Rubber Heel and Cold-Molded
Compression-molded rubber heel and cold-molded full-foot base. The forefoot rubber is hand cut in the same manner as a calendar sole and applied to the upper. The fully cured rubber heel is then applied to the outsole rubber and vulcanized together to form a permanent bond. This is a classic farm-boot style sole and has been used since the inception of vulcanized rubber boots.
DS-1 Outsole
This is a premium two-piece sole with a high-traction moulded-rubber outsole and comfortable cold-blocking EVA-sponge midsole designed for outdoor use. The outsole is made of natural rubber and features an inner set lugs of designed for maximum any-angle grip and flex, while the outer lugs are designed for maximum lateral/medial support and wear. The spacing of the lugs and slight radius at the bottom of each lugs helps to release and minimize build up of mud and debris on the outsole during use. The toe bumper is designed to rise above the toe line to protect the toes and provide support to the entire toe box of the boot. The rear bumper is designed with a large rigid “kick spur” for easy-off convenience, plus rises above the heel bone (calcaneus) to provide maximum protection and support to the entire heel area. Lastly, the sole is designed with a wide base in the forefoot and heel to provide greater support and stability on a variety of rough terrains.The Haymaker’s non-pigmented gum rubber formula sole is slightly softer and more grippy on wet or dry surfaces. It also has a higher content of natural rubber, making it naturally more resistant to barnyard elements such as urine and manure.
DS-2 Outsole
This is a premium two-piece sole with a chemical-resistant molded-rubber outsole and comfortable cold-blocking EVA-sponge midsole. The midsole on the DS2 uses the same mold as the DS1 outsole unit. The DS2 outsole is designed for use on hard surfaces and features long-wearing outer lugs and highly slip-resistant bi-directional inner lugs in the forefoot and heel areas. The toe and heel bumpers are designed in the same manner as the DS1; maximum toe and heel protection with large kick spur for easy-off convenience. This sole is resistant to all barnyard chemicals including ammonia, natural acids, gasoline, motor oil, diesel fuel, commercial detergents and diluted muriatic acid.
DS5 Outsole
The DS-5 outsole is made of durable solid gum rubber with a tread design particularly suited for wet and muddy conditions. The perimeter lugs, heel strike and toe plate are serrated to provide optimum grip on rough surfaces while the interior lugs are long and smooth to provide optimum grip on smooth wet surfaces. The system of grooves between the lugs provide excellent lateral/medial flex and quickly channel water and debris out and away with every step. The round shape of the grooves also prevent mud and grit from caking and holding during use. For added durability, the DS-5 sole is welt-vulcanized to the upper and guaranteed to hold tight for the life of the boot.
MXT Cupped Outsole
This cupped outsole is designed with high sidewalls for improved support and protection around the sides, heel, and toe areas. The aggressive tread pattern found on the natural rubber delivers exceptional traction on all terrain conditions. Robust tread lugs and high void areas also provide superior wet surface grip in mud, on wet rocks, or when climbing ladder stands and tree steps (an important safety feature).
Rubber + EVA Combo Outsole
This sole unit is designed with a molded solid-rubber outsole and buffed slab-EVA midsole. The EVA midsole provides weight-relief and comfort to the heel and mid-foot, while the rubber under the toe area is solid to provide crush-resistant support to the steel-toe cap above. The lugs are designed for long wear while the center spine provides excellent lateral and medial flex. This sole is made of compression-molded natural rubber and is oil resistant.
Solid Rubber Outsole
The Big Bobby sole is designed with wide outer lugs for support and durability, while the inner lugs are designed at opposing angles for grip and stability on uneven surfaces. The Gurley sole is designed is designed to be lightweight, flexible and highly slip-resistant on solid surfaces. Both soles are made of premium long-wearing, oil-resistant natural rubber.
